The first QB50 Workshop was held on 17–18 November 2009 at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI), Sint-Genesius-Rode (Brussels), Belgium. The aim of the Workshop was to provide essential background information regarding the QB50 Project to the invited CubeSat teams and to provide a forum for discussion among Workshop participants. The participation in the Workshop was limited to 120 persons (CubeSat teams, Invited Speakers, members of the Scientific Programme Committee, space agency representatives).

The seating capacity of the Lecture Hall at VKI is limited to 120 and, therefore, as was the case in 2009, participation in the Workshop will be by invitation only. First priority will be given to teams who have submitted a Letter of Intent (LoI) to participate in QB50 and teams who have submitted a proposal in response to the Call for CubeSat Proposals for QB50, to QB50 Steering Group and Working Group members, to industry involved in QB50 and to space agency representatives.

The Second Workshop will focus on project related matters, such as sensor selection, orbital dynamics, ground station networks and frequency allocation, launcher interface, deployment system, funding, schedule milestones, information exchange and possible synergy/collaboration between CubeSat teams.

VKI will organise the 4th QB50 Workshop between 28 August-14 September 2012. The CubeSat teams that have submitted proposals to the QB50 Project are invited for ~2 hours face-to-face meetings in these dates. Besides face-to-face meetings, there will be networking events such as coffee breaks, lunches and receptions. Major CubeSat companies will have exhibition stands.

No registration fee will be asked for lunches, receptions and coffee breaks.
